Galaxy S3 and Other Samsung Devices Finally Getting Jelly Bean

At last, our favorite Android phone is getting the newest version of Android. It took them long enough, but Samsung is finally beginning to roll out Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) updates for over a dozen of its phones and tablets.

The update is available first in Poland, for some reason, and The Verge reports that when you'll get it depends on where you live and which carrier you're with. If this post at TechHive is any indication, US customers - particularly those of us on Verizon - are last in line.

With enhancements like Project Butter and Google Now, updating to Jelly Bean means upgrading your phone. And with Google's improved voice search and Samsung's "blocking mode" filling in for Siri and "Do Not Disturb," the Jelly Bean update should help the Galaxy S3 compete with the iPhone 5.

We'll save a full-on OS face-off for another time, but consider this: Apple released iOS 6 a week ago, and over 100 million devices have already installed it (about 25%). Google announced Jelly Bean over two months ago, and its share of the Android user-base hasn't yet reached 2%.

No one cares how good the new version of Android is if it won't work on their phone. Let's hope Samsung can make the updates available fast, and that HTC and Motorola follow suit.

Eagerly awaiting the Jelly Bean update? (Or still waiting in vain for Ice Cream Sandwich?) Tell us about it in the comments.

Does Vin Diesel Want to Play Vision in The Avengers 2?

What happens when a movie star updates their profile pic with a Marvel character? Fanboy speculation kicks into overdrive!

Bleeding Cool points out that Vin Diesel recently changed his Facebook profile pic to an image of the Marvel character Vision, the android Avenger. Since Diesel uses his Facebook page primarily to pimp out his many projects (such as the forthcoming threequel Riddick) tongues are now a-wagging that maybe the xXx and Fast and the Furious star is dropping some hints that he is either A) Up for the role or has been cast as Vision in The Avengers 2, B) Wants to play the character in the movie and is essentially baiting fans into creating a buzz campaign to get Marvel to consider him for it, or C) is just pranking his fans.

It should be noted that Diesel's already switched his profile pic from Vision to something far less fanboy-baiting. Let's just say for the sake of discussion that Diesel might be up for the role: What would you think of Vin Diesel playing Vision in Avengers 2? Sound off in the Comments below!

Steam Updates Groups, Enhances Content Management

Valve has announced more new updates to the Steam Community, making changes to group pages as well as how users manager their uploaded content. Valve says that over 2.5 million groups have been created, and their pages will now receive an entirely new layout, adding a group overview, friend showcase and new group discussions.

Discussions can be public or private and users will have “complete moderator control” over their own groups, including the ability to create sub-forums, add moderators and delete posts. Groups can also list their favorite games and a default language can be set.

Valve has also added a new way to keep track of screenshots, replays, videos linked from YouTube, workshop Items and Workshops on your profile page. All content will be available for users to display or manage, with an image wall that will offer multiple ways to view your uploaded screenshots. Players will also be able to favorite screenshots in order to find them later or share them with friends.

Today is the third day of a week’s worth of Community updates that Valve is rolling out this week. The first update came on Monday with the introduction of Game Hubs. For more details about all of the new features, check out the Steam Community’s official site.
