Commander Shepard Wins Xbox 360 Primary

In a shocking last-minute upset, Commander Shepard has pulled ahead of Halo hero Master Chief to become the Xbox 360 candidate in the 2012 Video Game Presidential Election!

After more than 1.8 million face-offs among dozens of candidates, Shepard barely pulled ahead of Chief, winning by a mere 344 votes, also edging out Garrus, Cortana and The Arbiter, among others.

Shepard won in a close race that was likely determined by anti-Chief attack ads paid for by the Mothers Who Need You to Clean Up Your Room. IGN approached Shepard for a comment, but his statement was unable to be heard from underneath the pile of rubble on top of him. Chief, meanwhile, has not been contacted as IGN has been unable to obtain his real name or a picture of his face.

Shepard joins Nathan Drake as the PlayStation candidate and Link representing Nintendo. A PC candidate is expected to be announced next week once the ongoing PC primary comes to a close, with multiplatform primaries to follow as well as vice presidential picks for all candidates.

IGN’s coverage of the election will continue, so keep an eye on our 2012 Video Game Presidential Election site for all of the action as it unfolds.
