Four new character posters for Ben Wheatley's Sightseers have been released by Studiocanal, ahead of the horror comedy's debut at the London Film Festival this coming weekend.

The follow up film from the Kill List director sees oddball couple Chris and Tina embark on a caravan holiday around the British Isles before things take a turn for the worse when everything rubs Chris up the wrong way, tipping him over a bloody edge.

Check out the hilarious character posters below. And yes, the caravan IS a character.

Who Kojima Wants to Play Snake in MGS Movie

Speaking at the Eurogamer Expo in London today, Hideo Kojima has shed some light on the casting process for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie, which is to be produced by X-Men and Spider-Man's Avi Arad.

Although many Kojima fans will know that the legendary game developer originally wanted a career in film, he is not disappointed that he will not be the one to write the script or direct the upcoming Metal Gear Solid production. "I should not be the one to make Metal Gear into a movie," he said, although he will be working alongside Arad on script and casting.

As for who should play Snake, Kojima revealed some insight into the casting process. Originally he'd wanted a big star - specifically, he mentioned Hugh Jackman - but he's since changed his mind.

"If I talk to much about this Avi might get mad at me," he said, "but after thinking about it more, it’s probably better to go for someone new, a rising star, someone who hasn't been typecast before as a particular kind of character, so that’s the route we’re going right now.

"Avi is very good at finding these people, and I think we can find someone who can make it big and have Solid Snake be their break into the movie industry."

We outlined out dream Metal Gear Solid movie cast just a few months ago, and Hugh Jackman was the favourite for Snake - it's a shame that we definitely won't be seeing him in the role. With what Kojima said in mind, who would be your pick for Snake?

Frankenweenie and Seven Psychopaths Play London Film Fest

The line-up for the 56th London Film Festival has been unveiled, and it’s an eclectic mix of Hollywood blockbusters, foreign and arthouse fare, and films that are sure to be in the running come awards season.

The October festival is also mixing it up this year, introducing specific strands like Thrill, Cult, Laugh and Love to make this year’s schedule more accessible to the average film fan.

The festival kicks off with the European Premiere of Tim Burton’s 3D animation Frankenweenie, while high profile Gala screenings include Ben Affleck’s tense thriller Argo, Ben Wheatley’s black comedy Sightseers, and Hyde Park on Hudson, a period flick that stars Bill Murray as Franklin D Roosevelt.

Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges follow-up Seven Psychopaths – which stars Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken – is sure to be a hot ticket, while Jake Gyllenhaal cop flick End of Watch will also be playing in competition.

Nintendo is lending its support to proceedings, sponsoring the Gala Screening of musical comedy The Sapphires, while fans of the Stone Roses will want to check out Spike Island, about a group of kids making a pilgrimage to the titular gig.

Proceedings conclude with a screening of Great Expectations, starring Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter.

The BFI London Film Festival runs all over the capital from October 10 to 21, with tickets going on sale to the general public on September 24. For more details, head to the official site.

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN and is suddenly looking forward to a film called Painless at the LFF. His idle chit-chat can be found on both Twitter and MyIGN.

FrightFest the 13th - Five of the Best

So FrightFest happened at the weekend, with the good, the bad and the ugly of the horror film industry descending on the Empire Cinema in London’s Leicester Square to shock and scare thousands of gore-hounds.

The weekend was a resounding success, but if you couldn’t make it down, the following are five of the best flicks that played (alongside the brilliant Sinister, which we previously reviewed here).

Sleep Tight

My favourite film of the festival, Sleep Tight is less an out-and-out horror and more a dark, psychological thriller in the tradition of Hitchcock’s very best. Luis Tosar delivers a grandstanding performance as Cesar, a quiet doorman working at an upscale Barcelona apartment. But below that unassuming surface, Cesar is something of a monster, creeping into his most beautiful tenant’s room at night and doing… well you’ll just have to watch the movie to find out, but rest assured it’s suitably sick and twisted.

V/H/S

Horror anthologies tend to be a mixed bag, and V/H/S is no different, though when it’s scary, it’s bloody terrifying. The wrap-around story finds a group of unpleasant pranksters breaking into a supposedly deserted house to retrieve a VHS tape, and while there they find footage that makes up the rest of the movie. The likes of Adam Wingard, Ti West and Joe Swanberg direct, and the film features the first chiller to tell its story purely through Skype. The undoubted highlight is a very novel twist on the devil worshipping sub-genre.

Berbarian Sound Studio

I’m not even going to pretend I understood this one, though while the vague plotting is frustrating, the bizarre sound and imagery stays with you long after the credits have rolled. Hunger Games star Toby Jones plays Gilderoy, a shy and retiring sound engineer invited to Italy to work on horror flick The Equestrian Vortex. But things turn strange as soon as he arrives at the titular sound studio, with life imitating art as the horror bleeds from the screen and into his life. As Gilderoy endeavours to retain his sanity, the film too starts to lose the plot, but it all looks beautiful, and as an homage to Italian Giallo, it's spot on.

Grabbers

So three serious choices, but what about something a little more light-hearted? Cockney’s vs. Zombies went down well with the FrightFest crowd, but for me Irish effort Grabbers narrowly edged the East End pensioners out. Playing like a cross between Tremors and Whisky Galore, the film stars Richard Coyle as a disillusioned Garda with a drink problem who is lazily seeing out his years in a sleepy coastal town. But when an alien invasion hits, Coyle’s character is forced to step up to the plate, no-more-so than when a scientist discovers that the aliens are allergic to humans with a high blood alcohol level. As ridiculous as it is entertaining, Grabbers is perfect midnight movie fare.

American Mary

Jen and Sylvia Soska – the directors of Dead Hooker in a Trunk – return with what may have been the most talked-about film at the festival. Ginger Snaps star Katherine Isabelle plays Mary Mason, a medical student who enters the shady underground world of body modification in search of a quick buck, and soon finds it taking a terrible toll on her own psyche. Brutal, gripping and genuinely horrifying, American Mary is the kind of film that FrightFest was created for, and should be sought out at the earliest opportunity.

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN and is finding it hard to sleep after all that horror. His idle chit-chat can be found on both Twitter and MyIGN.

Kid Icarus: Uprising - The Final Showdown

This Saturday saw the grand final of the Kid Icarus: Uprising Battle Events take place in Central London. For the past eight weeks, the series of competitive Nintendo 3DS events have been touring the length and breadth of Great Britain, giving the general public the chance to take on pro-gamer Russki in a tournament to win a trip to IPL 5 in Las Vegas this November.

On Saturday, 24 finalists descended on the Century Club in Soho, (some coming in from Scotland) to duke it out in front of an audience of Nintendo fans. While only one person was going to be walking away with the main prize of the trip to Vegas, five runners up also managed to get their hands on a full deck of Kid Icarus: Uprising AR cards (400 of them!).

A victorious James Rushton

Fighting off fierce competition, James Rushton was the overall winner of the tournament, and he'll be jetting off to Vegas later this year courtesy of IGN and Nintendo. We'd like to thank everyone who took part across the country and those who came down to cheer on the competitors this weekend. Check out the snaps of the event below – a massive thank you to Ace Ashun for supplying!

IGN Pub Quiz IV: Take Our Hardest Quiz Yet

Last night IGN hosted the fourth instalment of the increasingly popular IGN Pub Quiz at The Good Ship in Kilburn, North London, and we think it was the best one we've done yet (even if we do say so ourselves!).

IGN Crew Rolling Deep!

With prizes donated by Insert Coin Clothing, Loading Bar, Substance PR and many more generous benefactors, competition was fierce. Returning champs The Super Quiz Fighters were keen to retain their crown, which they looked set to do as they led the pack at the halfway point.

Perhaps it was Alex's malfunctioning audio round that threw them, or it could have been the IGN Subhead round that scuppered most teams, but something soured The Super Quiz Fighters' plans causing them to drop out of the running by the end of the ten rounds.

The winning team receive their trophy!

Please join us as we congratulate our new quiz champions The Court Of King Crude (a team which included the creator of the rather magnificent Thomas Was Alone) who took home a huge bundle of prizes with their whopping score of 55/102.

The Loading team came second overall.

Runner up spoils went to Loading, The Arkham Asylum Varsity Swim Team, #GATSUGA, Super Pixel Bros. and Day of the Testicle who all competed fiercely for the second third and fourth spots.

Are we dreaming? No, you came joint third.

Let's not forget our losing team, Big Fact Hunt, who bagged the wooden spoon prize with a measly 16/102 - better luck next time guys!

Better luck next time Big Fact Hunt (great team name though!)

We'd like to thank our prize donors, the staff at the Good Ship, but most importantly everyone who came down to compete - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you want to see more photos from the night head over to www.facebook.com/IGNUK.

Details on our next Pub Quiz will be coming soon, all we can say at this point is - October 11th - SAVE THE DATE!

Pit your wits against the quiz questions over on the next few pages!

Microsoft to Open New Studio in London

Microsoft is set to open a new games studio in London. The company is currently hiring senior staff to run the studio.

“EMEA is a key market for us and we continue to cultivate the best talent and focus on growing our business, with this role focused on the continued expansion of our Microsoft Studios business in the region,” the company told MCV.

Job listings for the studio suggest this new team will be working on more casual experiences, seeking employees with a history in both cloud and mobile gaming.

Microsoft already operates several studios in the UK, including Lionhead, Rare and Soho Productions.

The news comes on the back of reports of an unspecified number of redundancies at Microsoft Studios Vancouver after further development on both Microsoft Flight and Project Columbia was ceased.
