WR5 SC2 at IPL5: Leenock vs. TheStC Recap

Game 1 on Entombed Valley

Leenock opens up with a fifteen-hatch and mines gas relatively early. TheStC opens normally with one barracks and a command center. He then builds double factory, indicating blue flame hellion. With the extra gas, Leenock goes for fast infestors and lacks the proper defense for the mobile hellions, which wreck havoc on his natural.

Leenock defends though TheStC has done significant economic damage. Leenock counters with his infestors and is able to even up the battle by taking out several SCVs. The Zerg techs up to brood lords, whereas TheStC commits to a heavy mech build, teching up with Thors. Once he scouts the brood lords, TheStC queues up vikings. However, he does not have enough to combat Leenock's incredible air force and he gives up the first game to Leenock.

Game 2 on Metropolis

TheStC does not go for an economical opening and denies Leenock any information by pushing away overlords with his marines. He again goes for hellions and marines, which Leenock senses. In response, he queues up seventeen zerglings to prepare for incoming aggression.

TheStC commits to a one-base all-in, bringing forth all of his SCVs to attack Leenock's natural. Leenock is able to defend rather easily with well-timed banelings and he sends TheStC to the Loser Bracket.

Match Score: Leenock 2 - 0 TheStC

WR5 SC2 at IPL5: Polt vs. Creator Recap

Game 1 on Entombed Valley

Polt commits to an economic build, going command center first. Creator responds by warping Nexus first after gateway. In an unorthodox move, he goes for early upgrades as opposed to a robotics facility. He then builds a twilight council followed immediately by a templar archives to research storm.

He masses his bio force of marauders and marines, whereas Creator builds up a Protoss ball of death consisting of colossi, stalkers, and zealots. The battle culminates into an intense base trade, which Polt is able to win thanks to vikings back home (which eliminate all the colossi) and he takes the first game.

Game 2 on Ohana

Creator goes zealot stalker first and drops his second Nexus at six minutes. One gate expand into robotics then researchs thermal lance on the robotics bay, indicating colossi once again. Polt once again goes for a bio-heavy army. He scouts Creator's colossi and immediately queues up vikings.

Polt attacks Creator at the perfect time, as Creator's charge research was unfinished and his guardian shields were recovering. Creator poorly positions his army and his colossi are decimated by vikings and he concedes the game.

Final Nintendo Power Cover Revealed

Back in August, Nintendo revealed that Nintendo Power will be ceasing publication in December. While it seemed far away at the time, four months have passed and Nintendo Power’s final issue is now being prepared for shipment.

Though the issue hasn’t hit subscribers quite yet, user 5thape has posted an early look on reddit, revealing that the cover is a nostalgic throwback to Nintendo Power’s original magazine.

For comparison’s sake, here’s the cover Nintendo Power debuted with back in 1988:

The final issue is expected to hit subscribers next month, and IGN wishes the best of luck to Nintendo Power’s employees as they move on to their next endeavor. For a look back at Nintendo Power, read IGN’s favorite Nintendo Power memories and listen to our Nintendo Power discussion on Nintendo Video Chat below.

Arrow Cast’s Spartacus’ Manu Bennett

Spartacus fan favorite Manu Bennett has been cast on Arrow, EW reports.

Bennett, who plays Crixus, Spartacus’ contentious “right-hand-man” on the popular action series will join Arrow as the villain Slade Wilson in a multiple-episode arc.

Arrow has been doing a good job of incorporating characters that fans of the Green Arrow comic and DC universe in general will both recognize and want to see on the show. This week saw the introduction of Jessica De Gouw as The Huntress, we’ve already seen Royal Flush Gang and Deadshot make appearances and of course Dinah Laurel Lance and Tommy Merlyn are series regulars.

Another actor already depicted a masked Deathstroke in a flashback, so it is unclear when Bennett’s Slade Wilson will become the villain. The only comment that Network sources have made is: “You’ll just have to keep watching Arrow.”

All we know right now is that, “as seen in flashbacks, Slade Wilson and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will form an uneasy alliance on the island of Lian Yu.”

Bennett can also be seen in the upcoming series finale of Spartacus and as an orc chieftain in The Hobbit.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8PM on The CW.

Sony Breaks Radio Silence on Vita’s Rocketbirds

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is a funny little old-school inspired action game that came to PlayStation Network late in 2011. It was pretty good. And back in March, we learned that Rocketbirds would also be coming to PlayStation Vita.

Since then, we’ve had nothing but silence about the Vita port (though it was playable on the floor of New York Comic Con). But today, the PlayStation Blog has confirmed that Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken will indeed be coming to Vita, and it’s set to arrive during the first quarter of 2013.

The game will essentially be a straight port of the PS3 version, though there will be some extras, including added touch controls, as well as new co-op characters exclusive to the Vita version. Naturally, IGN will have a full review when the game launches next year.

Colin Moriarty is an IGN PlayStation editor. You can follow him on Twitter and IGN and learn just how sad the life of a New York Islanders and New York Jets fan can be.
