Out This Week, September 3, 2013

With so many new games and movies coming out, it can be hard to keep up. Lucky for you, IGN is here to help with a weekly round-up of the biggest releases each and every week. Check out the latest releases for the week of September 2 2013, and be sure to come back next Monday for a new update.

Diablo III

PS3 ($59.96) / Xbox 360 ($59.96)

diabloiiips3jpg-881f98_160hFrom our preview: Each button on the controller was bound to an attack or skill, and can be easily rebound to new ones using an elaborately designed radial interface. Simply pushing the right stick in the direction of an enemy made bashing my way through a snap. There’s also the addition of an evasion dive-roll on the left stick. It doesn’t make you move any faster, but does allow much greater flexibility of movement, in that you don’t make yourself a sitting duck while holding the right stick in the direction of your enemies to aim attacks.

Now You See Me

Blu-Ray ($19.99) / DVD ($14.99)

nowyouseemeboxart_160wFrom our review: From The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier and exec producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) comes Now You See Me, a caper about dogged, but outsmarted FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) who's pitted in a game of cat and mouse with a crew of illusionist-thieves. Calling themselves "The Four Horsemen," J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt (Woody Harrelson), Henley (Isla Fisher), and Jack (Dave Franco) are a hugely successful Vegas magic act who begin to pull off daring, seemingly unbelievable heists much to the delight of audiences and the chagrin of the FBI and Rhodes' Interpol liaison (Melanie Laurent).

Total War: Rome II

PC ($59.95)

totalromeii1jpg-e93f5a_160hFrom our preview: Even in a season seemingly dominated by next-gen anticipation, Creative Assembly's Total War Rome 2 demands to be noticed. The original3 Rome was, in the minds of many fans, the series' best and most popular installment, and the upcoming sequel benefits from all the lessons the developers have learned over the last ten years. We've played through the tutorial campaign a handful of times, and are even more excited now to get our hands on the final game.

Spartacus: War of the Damned - Season 3

Blu-Ray ($29.99) / DVD ($29.96)

SpartyObboxart_160wFrom our episode 310 review: For three seasons we’ve watched Spartacus hack, slash and bash his way through hundreds of soldiers and gladiators that would find themselves between him and freedom. Initially fueled by revenge, his motivation eventually grew to include freedom, not only for the small group of gladiators from Batiatus’ ludus, but for the countless number of slaves under Roman oppression. Now, after watching his final battle recreated brilliantly for the small screen, I feel nothing but gratitude for those who brought this wonderful story to life once more and for the historical figures that shed blood for their freedom.

Rayman Legends

PS3 ($59.99) / Xbox 360 ($59.99) / PC ($39.99) / Wii U ($59.99) / Vita ($39.99)

raylwiiujpg-8826c8_160hFrom our review: Rayman Legends is a delightful platformer, and one of the best I’ve ever played. Thanks to clever level design that toys with genre conventions, it gets incredible mileage out of four basic moves. And with great local co-op and dozens of unlockables – including stages from Rayman Origins, special character skins, and mini-games – there’s a lot to do. The difficulty is so smoothly balanced that it can be played with with kids or adult friends and still have a great time.

From Up on Poppy Hill

Blu-Ray Combo Pack ($22.19) / DVD ($19.49)

from-up-on-poppy-hill-cover-artFrom our review: From Up On Poppy Hill is a small film, with earthbound ambitions. It is a marked change from the thematically weighty Earthsea, and a promising one; by grounding his film in the real world, Goro Miyazki is carving out a direction away from the shadow of his father. It will be exciting to see what he does next.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

PS3 ($39.99) / Xbox 360 ($39.99)

deadoraliveultimageps31jpg-e936b5_160hGame details: Modes that made their debut appearance in Dead or Alive 5 Plus, such as a tutorial stage and Move Details Plus, find their way into Ultimate. Alongside these new modes comes the addition of Momiji from the Ninja Gaiden series, as well as additional characters.

The Lords of Salem (Blu-Ray)
