New ShootMania Feature: Lasers Destroy Rockets

In the above picture, you can see the resulting explosion of a laser striking a rocket in ShootMania, the newest title we are covering here at IGN Pro League. Lasers being able to destroy rockets is one of many new features that the developers at Nadeo are starting to experiment with to raise the skill ceiling, decision making, and variety in normal ShootMania games. At the moment, lasers being able to destroy rockets is merely an option that anyone creating a server can toggle on or off. Experimental Elite ran with this new feature for a while, in addition to some slightly modified movement and wall jumps.

Shooting down rockets in a server with this feature enabled will of course save you from being struck and losing a point of armor, but also recharges your laser nearly instantly so that you can strike back at the person attacking you very quickly. This and other features being implemented will improve gameplay by creating more unique situations and separating the truly skilled players from your run of the mill casual fraggers. Keep an eye on the patch notes in the ShootMania beta to see when features like this are implemented. If you are interested in getting your hands on ShootMania and trying out all of the various features, grab a 30-day beta key at http://go.ign.com/iplshootmania. You just need a free MyIGN account to be able to claim your key and start eliminating the opposition today!

Bond Skyfall Trailer 2 Hits

The new trailer for Skyfall has hit the net, alongside a couple of brand-new stills from the latest James Bond picture.

Beware of spoilers from the trailer ahead…

It kicks off with M apparently writing Bond’s obituary, before being berated by Ralph Fiennes’ Gareth Mallory for losing a drive that contains the identity of every of every agent embedded in terrorist organizations across the globe.

Bond then makes a miraculous return from the grave before becoming embroiled in a series of spectacular action set-pieces, including one atop a train.

We are also introduced to the new Q – played by Ben Whishaw – who issues Bond with his iconic weapon of choice, the Walter PPK.

And we get our first glimpse at a very blonde Javier Bardem as the film’s villain Silva, whose plan seems to be… well, you’ll just have to watch the trailer below!

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN and is a big fan of blonde Bardem. His idle chat can be found on both Twitter and MyIGN.

Die Hard 5 "Not Carry on Die Hard"

Director John Moore has been discussing the forthcoming Die Hard sequel, talking up the scale of the picture and revealing that it features a car chase that is taking more than two months to shoot.

Speaking to Empire about A Good Day to Die Hard – which sees John McClane journeying to Russia to rescue his son – the Max Payne helmer revealed “The scope goes from New York to Moscow. It’s very, very international. There’s a car chase through Moscow that’s taking us 78 days to shoot.”

And regarding the tone of the film, Moore explained that he won’t be poking fun at the franchise: "There are a couple of great gags and a couple of great McClanisms," he explained. "It's not like he's this idiot, bumbling around Moscow making 'America won the Cold War' jokes. It's not Carry on Die Hard, I assure you."

“I don’t know whether it’s post-financial crash or whatever, but I don’t think people are in the mood for that bollocks anymore. People are well savvy to the cynical reheating of any product; any franchise. Any sh*t won’t do. The bar’s a bit higher.”

A Good Day to Die Hard hits screens globally on February 14.

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN and is wondering how the same sh*t can keep happening to the same journalist. His idle chat can be found on both Twitter and MyIGN.
