Splinter Cell Movie Goes to New Regency

New Regency is now fully immersed in the Ubisoft business, having secured a deal to produce the game maker's film adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy was announced last month as the star of the film, and will play the special-ops agent Sam Fisher.

This marks the second Ubisoft adaption for New Regency; they also have Assassin's Creed in the works, which will star and be co-produced by X-Men: First Class actor Michael Fassbender (through his production company). It is expected that both Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell will be distributed by Fox, since New Regency has a prior relationship with the studio.

According to Variety, "As part of the deal, Ubisoft will work closely with New Regency to develop and co-produce Splinter Cell with Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures."
