Grand Theft Auto V UK Sales Figures Revealed

Grand Theft Auto V is the UK's fastest-selling game of all time, having sold just over 2.25 million copies in five days.

Chart-Track has revealed that Rockstar's latest adventure snatched the crown from Call of Duty: Black Ops by 250,000 units, after the popular shooter sold 2 million copies over the same period back in 2010.

It's hard to imagine a week where one title has been so dominant or perhaps ever will.

1.57 million of these sales took place in the first 24 hours, generating £65 million and breaking day one records. This means GTA V's launch week was 2.4 times bigger than GTA IV's; in fact, it's been bigger than all the other GTA launch weeks combined.

As you can probably guess, this means Grand Theft Auto V has stormed to the top of the UK chart this week. What's crazy though is the fact that the other nine titles rounding out the Top 10 account for just four per cent of games sales last week, with Chart-Track saying it's "hard to imagine a week where one title has been so dominant or perhaps ever will."

All this combines to mean that, less than a week after its launch, GTA V already holds the enviable title of being the 24th biggest-selling game ever in the UK, with 57 per cent of sales being made on Xbox 360 and 43 per cent being made on PlayStation 3.

It was revealed last week that Grand Theft Auto V managed to make $800 million globally after its first day on sale, going on to pass the $1 billion mark within three days.
