Ouya Store May Have Nintendo Emulators At Launch

The Ouya is set to ship out to Kickstarter supporters on March 28th, and there's still not much word on the games that will be available for the system. But TechCrunch reports that gamers will get the opportunity to revisit plenty of their classic Nintendo games, thanks to downloadable emulators for the NES, SNES and N64.

OUYA forum admin and owner Ed Krassenstein wrote a post  that NES emulator EMUya has been submitted for launch, and both the SuperGNES SNES emulator and Mupen64Plus N64 Emulator will be ported to the Ouya as well. Both the EMUya and the Mupen64Plus are slated to be in the Ouya store by the 28th, and it's safe to say that the SuperGNES won't be too far behind.

TechCrunch noted that the acceptance of emulators into Ouya's official store is a bold move, but there's been no word from the company proper on whether it's true. Regardless of the "official" status, it's a great step towards integrating the emulator ecosystem in a plug-and-play system and a smart selling point for a console that remains without any key titles to draw customers at launch.
