Game of Thrones Recasts The Mountain

Hot on the heels of the news that Treme's Michiel Huisman would take over the role of Daario Naharis from Ed Skrein in the upcoming fourth season of HBO's Game of Thrones, the series has announced yet another casting change.

A third actor has been cast to play Gregor Clegane, otherwise known as The Mountain, THR reports. Icelandic actor Hafthor Julius Bjornsson (seen below in a Facebook selfie series) is set to take on what will be an expanded role this season.

Bjornsson tweeted the following on Monday:

"For all my fans! I am happy to tell you that I will be THE MOUNTAIN In season 4 In Game Of Thrones :)" - Hafþór J Björnsson (@ThorBjornsson_)

Gregor is of course brother to  Sandor Clegane, The Hound, played by Rory McCann. Conan Stevens briefly played The Mountain in the show's first season, with Ian Whyte taking over in the second. Some fans found that neither actor was able to embody the intimidating mass and pure brute strength of the character.

What do you think of the recent recastings?
