Paul Greengrass Nixes Bourne 5 Rumours

Director Paul Greengrass has been talking about the prospect of a new Jason Bourne movie, saying that if it does happen, it won’t be with him.

Speaking to Empire about ongoing rumours of a film that would re-team the Supremacy/Ultimatum helmer with star Matt Damon, Greengrass said “I’ve absolutely no idea [where they came from]. I’m not being funny but, no, that’s just a figment of someone’s imagination.”

The director did admit that it had been discussed, but added that it was “Quite a while ago. We might have a laugh about it, but a serious conversation? Not for a long time.”

And to put that rumour to bed once and for all, he stated “I loved the Bourne movies. I loved making them but it’s like anything in life, you’ve got to move on and do different things.”

However, the franchise isn’t dead, as last month Anthony Peckham was announced as screenwriter of the forthcoming sequel to The Bourne Legacy, in which Jeremy Renner will again star as Aaron Cross.

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN in the UK and thinks these guys should just leave Bourne alone. He can be found talking nonsense on both Twitter and MyIGN.
