Namco Bandai has announced the Ni No Kuni franchise has sold over 1.4 million units worldwide.
The figure, which takes into account worldwide copies sold of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch on the PlayStation 3 and Japan-only sales of the Nintendo DS version of the game, was announced during a press conference in Japan last week.
Namco Bandai Games Europe senior vice president Olivier Comte said, "We are very proud to join our partner, Level-5, to announce that the critically acclaimed role-playing game series, Ni no Kuni, has approximately reached the 1.4 million units sold worldwide. The franchise has been very well received in EMEA and as a result of its quality, has reached an amazing number of sales for a JRPG."
Level-5 has been open about the fact that strong sales in the West would lead it to consider making a sequel to Ni no Kuni, so this is pretty promising news. Regardless, we already know the studio is working on a PlayStation 4 game so it shouldn't be too long before we get another dose of JRPG-goodness sent our way.
