Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam has been cast in the role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
A post on Facebook confirms that British-born Hunnam, best known for his roles in Pacific Rim, Queer as Folk and Sons of Anarchy, will take on the role, following months of speculation about who the part would go to.
Alongside this announcement about the male lead, it's been confirmed that 21 Jump Street's Dakota Johnson will star opposite Hunnam as Anastasia Steele. The film is set to be released next year with Sam Taylor-Johnson in the director's chair.
Fifty Shades weirdly began life as Twilight fan fiction by author E. L. James before she rewrote it, got it published, and it became a huge hit. It's been called "Mommy Porn" by some, due to its mature and erotic themes and the perception that it is popular among older women.
What do you reckon? Will Hunnam be able to handle the transition from Jaegers to bondage, and is Johnson right for the role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
