Comic Book Cover of the Week: 1/10/13

There were a bunch of sweet covers this week (Star Wars #1 and Sweet Tooth #40 spring to mind), but the one that takes the cake is Jae Lee's Phantom Stranger #4 job:

Read our review of The Phantom Stranger #4

For the past year or so, we've only seen Lee handling Before Watchmen stuff at DC, so it's nice to see him take on the DCU. I love Constantine's indifferent smoking as Phantom Stranger legitimately freaks out about something off screen, as though Constantine is privy to the horrors that await him. The smoke trails/symbols are a pleasing parallel to the shape of the Stranger's body, and the whole image is almost Rockwellian in its single-frame storytelling ability.

My only gripe is that it had to have words plastered all over it. We could've at least done without the big Justice League Dark logo, no? In any case, this is a gorgeous piece of work and our pick for cover of the week.
