As the trial of the real James "Whitey" Bulger approaches, it looks like the movie being made about him, Black Mass, may be on the rocks.
According to Deadline, Johnny Depp is now "shaky" on playing the notorious Boston mob boss-FBI informant whose 16 years on the run came to an end with his arrest in 2011.
"The troubles are in making his deal and things aren’t looking great at the moment," the site claims. "It’s possible this will come back on track in the give and take of negotiation, so stay tuned."
Joel Edgerton recently boarded the project to play John Connolly, Bulger's corrupt FBI handler. Barry Levinson remains attached to direct the film for Cross Creek, Exclusive Media and Universal Pictures.
