Star Wars: The Old Republic Enters the Dread War in October

Star Wars: The Old Republic's next big game update, entitled The Dread War, introduces new PvE and PvP content and will be released early next month, BioWare has announced.

Game Update 2.4 is scheduled for launch on October 1. For those interested in competing with other players, there will be a set of three new 4v4 Warzone Arenas for ranked and unranked matches. Players will also be able to visit the moon Oricon, a new story mission area, and take part in two new level 55 Operations: The Dread Fortress and The Dread Palace, the latter of which marks the end of the game's Dread Masters storyline.

The Old Republic dropped its mandatory subscription fee and went free-to-play last year. A subscription option does still exist, giving players fewer restrictions, such as unlimited access to Operations and the ability to carry more credits and send in-game mail, among other perks. Along with word on The Dread War, BioWare announced today that, effectively immediately, anyone who subscribes to the game will receive the game's first expansion pack, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, for free.
