Jim Carrey Brings the Funny to Ricky Stanicky

Jim Carrey may be playing a superhero in this summer’s Kick-Ass 2, but he'll also be doing some saving in a new film called Ricky Stanicky.

The ensemble comedy from Summit Entertainment revolves around three teens who create a fake person named Ricky Stanicky to take the fall for burning down a house. But after 20 years of continuing to use him as an alibi for all manner of problems, their significant others want to finally meet this him, so they hire an out-of-work actor to play the part.

James Franco was originally cast as Ricky in 2010, and Joaquin Phoenix briefly took his place, but now it is Carrey locked in for the role. His Bruce Almighty and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls collaborator Steve Oedekerk is set to direct.

Given his return to form as a Criss Angel-esque magician in this year's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, more comedic roles for Carrey are certainly welcome.
