Director Michael Mann’s unnamed new project is reportedly a cyber thriller that features a team-up between American and Chinese task forces to bring down a hacker from the Balkans.
The film’s lead actor Chris Hemsworth will trade in Thor’s hammer for some anti-hacking skills and will work with Chinese intelligence in the movie, although his co-stars have yet to be named.
As reported by the Hong Kong-based newspaper the Apply Daily (via THR), Mann visited several possible Hong Kong filming locations. He also met with some of China’s most famous movie stars, including Tang Wei, Nick Cheung Ka-fai and Shawn Yue Man-lok, in order to fill the roles of two Chinese hacker siblings.
Hollywood’s relationship with China continues to be a prosperous one, as evidenced by Marvel releasing a special Chinese version of Iron Man 3.
