If you saw the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend or simply read our coverage of the footage shown there then you know about the shocking SPOILER the studio included in their sizzle reel from Thor: The Dark World.
If you don't know what happens and don't want to know then read no further.
Still here?
The final moment of the Thor 2 footage appeared to show Loki (Tom Hiddleston) severing Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) right hand just as his mighty hammer was flying back to him. OUCH.
Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly he still hasn't seen the finished footage of that scene. "I can’t say too much more about it. But I will tell you that’s not the worst thing that he has to worry about along the way," said Hemsworth.
He added, "Maybe I will have to learn to use the hammer with the left hand, you know? Or I was thinking of maybe just attaching it. I could ram it straight down into the stump. That would be very Game of Thrones in approach.”
Speaking of Game of Thrones, one of that acclaimed HBO series' directors, Alan Taylor, is helming Thor: The Dark World. Hemsworth, a Thrones viewer, also notes the "strange parallel" between Thor and Thrones' Jaime Lannister -- two tall, handsome blonde warrior princes with scheming brothers who both lose their fighting hand.
Probably a good thing Thor doesn't also have a twin sister, eh?
Thor: The Dark World opens November 8.
