When it comes to X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer's Twitter account has been an invaluable news resource. But on April Fools' Day, that resource becomes a little less reliable.
In the spirit of the holiday, Singer tweeted his latest "scoop" in casting a certain pop star earlier today: "I can finally announce @ladygaga is joining #XMen #DaysofFuturePast as Dazzler. One of my all-time favorite characters. Can't wait!"
Well played, Mr. Singer. Well played...

In more legitimate news, Ellen Page will soon be reprising her X-Men: The Last Stand role as Kitty Pryde in Days of Future Past. However, it turns out there was once a time when Page was in talks for her own standalone X-Men spinoff, which would have re-teamed the actress with her Juno cohorts director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody.
Shortly after the success of Juno and likely around the time 20th Century Fox was still tossing around ideas for other X-Men Origins movies, Reitman was approached by the studio about directing a Kitty Pryde movie written by Cody and starring Page.
Of course, the project never did take off, leaving us to wonder what might have been. But that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Page's Kitty. Days of Future Past hits theaters on July 17, 2014.
