Fast & Furious 7 Shooting This Summer?

With Fast & Furious 6 fast (heh) approaching its May 24 release date, fans have been wondering when we might start hearing news of Fast 7. Well, according to star Vin Diesel, early reactions to Fast 6 have been so good that the studio is already set to begin shooting this summer.

"There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6. The crowd reaction was surreal... and their demand for the continuation was powerful," Diesel said on his Facebook page. "It's remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999... and the evolution continues. P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started... talk about a studio in sync with the audience."

While a director has yet to be announced, with such a quick turnaround it's possible that Justin Lin is returning to helm Fast 7, with a script by Chris Morgan -- we already know that Morgan was writing the sixth and seventh movies back to back.

However, it's also possible that Diesel is referring to the Luke Hobbs Fast & Furious spinoff that Dwayne Johnson said could be coming out before Fast 7. But if Fast 7 really is shooting this summer, that kind of puts the kibosh on any potential spinoff, that is unless both films went into production simultaneously...
