Astronaut Slays Rendition of "Space Oddity" in Zero Gravity

Canadian Astronaut and Internet fascination Commander Chris Hadfield may be on his way back down to Earth, but he made sure to go out with a bang. The Next Web reports that he capped off his 5-month stay at the International Space Station with a chilling rendition of David Bowie's "Space Oddity," and it's poignant enough to do Ziggy Stardust some serious justice.

Hadfield, who is the first Canadian to ever command the International Space Station, has developed quite a presence on the Internet while perched up 250 miles above the Earth's surface. He has garnered more than 850,000 followers on Twitter, posted videos on his Youtube channel, and even did a Reddit AMA from space.

A talented musician, Hadfield has spent some of his off-hours recording music, but something about singing about Major Tom's ominous return to Earth just makes perfect poetic sense.

Check out the video below, and don't forget to clock the amazing views of Earth throughout:

Hadfield is expected to return to the planet (and gravity) tonight around 11pm Eastern time.

What do you think of Commander Hadfield's rendition? Let us know in the comments.
