As you no doubt know by now, Gran Turismo 6 is real. It’s coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 this fall, and you can see its trailer below.
But buried in Sony’s press release for the game was another interesting fact: GT6’s predecessor, Gran Turismo 5, has sold over 10 million copies. That makes it – by far – the best-selling PlayStation 3-exclusive to date.
The series as a whole it now at 70 million games sold.
It was only back in November that Sony revealed that the Gran Turismo franchise has sold 67.8 million copies. At that time, Gran Turismo 5 was marked at just a hair above 9 million units sold. That means that it’s sold another million copies in the last six months, a big feat for a game that originally came out in 2010.
At nearly 15 million units sold, however, Gran Turismo 5 still has a long way to go to beat Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec on PlayStation 2, the best-selling game in the series.
