Ben Affleck To Helm Glenn Gordon Caron Crime Drama Pilot For FOX

As if his dance card weren't already full enough, Ben Affleck is set to make his mark in television. The busy actor, director, and soon to be Batman, is teaming up with TV series creator, Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting, Medium) for a new crime drama pilot for FOX entitled The Middle Man, Deadline reports.

Affleck will helm the pilot in his television directorial debut from a script written by Caron, who will serve as the series' showrunner should it be picked-up. Both Affleck and Caron will executive produce through the actors Pearl Street Films production company.

Set in Affleck's native Boston in the 1960s, The Middle Man follows Rudy MacAteer, an FBI agent charged who is tasked with taking down the Italian mafia, and his relationship with Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood. An unexpected side-effect of MacAteer's work is the creation of the Irish mob. The agent suddenly finds himself in the awkward position of having to bend the law in order to achieve his goals.

Affleck began work on the project when he was still on production for The Town in 2009.

We will keep you updated as details emerge.
