Ex-Telltale, Klei Entertainment Devs Form Indie Studio

A collection of developers from Telltale Games and Klei Entertainment formed a new independent games studio, Campo Santo.

The team consists of Nels Anderson (lead designer of Mark of the Ninja), Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin (writers on The Walking Dead), and freelance graphic designer Olly Moss.

"Deciding to found and then actually CREATE a video game studio has felt like a mix of buying a winning lottery ticket and taking a brash detour that results in a near miss with a pedestrian," Vanaman writes on Campo Santo's first blog post.

"Some of us want to tell stories, some of us want to build systems, and some of us want to create beautiful looking worlds," he writes. "But we all want to make something."

While the majority of the team has ample experience in game development, Moss –– best known for his re- imagining of movie posters –– is experiencing it for the first time with Campo Santo.

"I've never been so passionate about a project as I am this," Moss writes on his blog, "and I've never creatively clicked with a team so well as I do with Sean, Jake and Nels. But they are all proven in this field. I am not."

The team's project is still unannounced, but Vanaman says they will be working with Portland-based studio Panic Inc., a software developer for Mac.
