Insidious Chapter 2 Has Scary Good Opening Weekend

The horror sequel Insidious Chapter 2 outdid industry expectations this weekend with an estimated opening of $41.1 million, easily topping the domestic box office and making it the second-biggest September debut of all time.

The original Insidious debuted with $13.3 million and ultimately made $97 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of $1.5 million. This James Wan-directed sequel only cost $5 million to produce.

Bowing in second place this weekend was Luc Besson's mob comedy The Family with $14.5 million.
