The Witcher 3 will be the "final episode" of Geralt of Rivia's story, according to developer CD Projekt Red. Following The Witcher 3's announcement, Studio head Adam Bakowski stated "People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is. Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note."
The press release for Wild Hunt's announcement emphasizes this, stating this will be players' "last chance" to experience the series. Following The Witcher 3, presumably, is CD Projekt's other title, Cyberpunk 2077.
"Our team had to make significant design changes and our tech had to be rebuilt," Badowski says of his role-playing sequel. "But we believe that this will lead to a completely new level of non-linearity and a whole new, richer gaming experience...Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined."
Wild Hunt releases in 2014 for unspecified "high-end platforms." Let the speculation of Geralt's fate and next-gen home begin.
