PAX Aus Pokémon National Championship Nears, Spots in Tournament Still Up for Grabs

Missed out on a ticket to PAX Australia? Fancy yourself as somewhat of a Pokémon pro? You may be in luck.

In the lead up to the Pokémon National Championships at PAX Aus, Nintendo is hosting a series of Pokémon meet-ups that are continuing this weekend. Head to The Deakin Edge, Federation Square in Melbourne on Saturday July 6 (Registration 10am, Competition 11am - 5pm) or Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Mezzanine Level 1 on Sunday July 7 (Registration 10am, Competition 11am - 5pm) to earn a spot in the finals.

There are heaps of PAX Aus tickets for Pokémon fans in Melbourne that are interested in competing at nationals, and the winners in Brisbane will be flown to PAX Aus for nationals.

Meet-ups in Adelaide (AVCon Anime and Video Game Convention, Saturday July 13) and Sydney (Crystal Palace, Luna Park, Sunday July 14) will follow next weekend.

2013 marks the first time Australia has been part of the Pokémon World Championship. Pokémon players will compete at the Australian National Championships at PAX Australia in Melbourne on July 20-21, 2013 across three divisions (Junior Division, born in 2002 or later; Senior Division, born between 1998 and 2001; Masters Division, born in 1997 or earlier).

Players who place in the top two of their age division will win flights, accommodation and an invitation to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Vancouver, held August 9-11, 2013.

Players will battle it using Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. If you’re interested, you can check out the rules here.
