Ang Lee, director of the visually lush Life of Pi, is set to bring his 3D aesthetic to the world of boxing. The director is set to helm a boxing movie which will feature classic fights such as the Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali showdown popularly known as the "Thrilla In Manila," Deadline reports.
This isn't a documentary, though, the film will have a narrative through-line that connects the stereoscopic retelling of some of the sports most iconic fights. Details on the particulars of the story are sparse, but this is one that we will certainly be keeping our eyes on.
Lee is set to produce with partner James Schamus, the CEO of Universal-based Focus Features. The pair have previously collaborated on Eat Drink Man Woman, Sense And Sensibility, The Ice Storm, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hulk and Brokeback Mountain.
We will keep you updated as details emerge.
