Frank Miller's Robocop Returns

If the upcoming Robocop reboot isn't quite what you're looking for in the future of law enforcement, BOOM! Studios has got you covered.

The comics publisher has revealed to IGN that they've recently acquired the Robocop license and are planning a new eight issue mini-series called Robocop: Last Stand, which is based on Frank Miller's original screenplay for Robocop 3.

Robocop: Last Stand #1 Cover by Declan Shalvey

Adapted for comics by 2 Guns writer Steven Grant (ironically, the writer of the original Dark Horse movie adaptation of Robocop 3), illustrated by Korkut Oztekin, and featuring a cover by Declan Shalvey, Robocop: Last Stand #1 will deliver the conclusion to the Robocop saga as Miller's screenplay had intended to. BOOM! describes it as:

"The police force has disbanded. The people of Detroit have been evicted from their homes. ED-209s and OCP officers run the streets. With OCP’s vision for Delta City well underway, Robocop may be his city’s last hope. This is Robocop’s last stand, as it was always intended to be."

This isn't the first foray for Miller's Robocop in comics. Way back in 2003, Avatar Press published Frank Miller's Robocop, which was based on his unused script for Robocop 2. Grant wrote that adaptation as well.

Robocop: Last Stand #1 hits in August.
