Ready for the Game of Thrones Season Finale?

Look, loads of spoilers for all things Game of Thrones. that have aired so far. Yada yada...

For the past two seasons on HBO's Game of Thrones, the ninth (penultimate) episode has been the big one. Whether it was Ned getting dead from lack of head or Tyrion defending King's Landing from a foll-blown outbreak of Stannis, the ninth episodes have always rocked. Leaving the finales to (mostly) show us the fall out. And given the next-level atrocity seen in last week's "The Rains of Castamere," the Season 3 finale, "Mhysa," is going to have a lot to live up to.

IGN Gives "The Rains of Castamere" a 10!

Yes, last Sunday's installment left many fans, readers and non-readers alike, with their jaws on the floor. In fact, here are a few reasons why the Red Wedding scene was more traumatic on TV than it was in the books.

Needless to say, this past week was filled with screaming fan reaction videos and humorous, pointed Princess Bride mashups used to express anger and disbelief.

"It it possible for it to be a negative number? Like, could I give negative f***s?"

The HBO synopsis for the Season 3 finale reads: "Joffrey challenges Tywin. Bran tells a ghost story. In Dragonstone, mercy comes from strange quarters. Dany waits to see if she is a conqueror or a liberator."

Not much to go on, for sure. Especially given all the characters we saw in the "Next time on..." trailer, like the The Hound, Arya, Theon, and the return of Yara Greyjoy. But I do look forward to another Tywin/Joffrey confrontation; hopefully with Tywin walking away with a more decisive verbal smackdown victory. The sentence "Bran tells a ghost story" doesn't sound very exciting, but it could connect directly to the Nightfort (which Sam talked about very briefly last week) and the sacred idea of "Guest Right," which Walder Frey so blatantly violated.

IGN TV Executive Editor Eric Goldman and I recently did one of those Google chat videos about some of the things that might, based on the book A Storm of Swords, happen in the finale. Check it out below, but don't watch it if you haven't read the books. It's filled with book spoilers!

The Game of Thrones Season 3 finale, "Mhsya," airs Sunday, June 9th on HBO.
