Seriously, spoilers ahead. Like, all of the spoilers.
A few weeks ago, an image leaked of a new cover for Batman Incorporated #8 that evoked the spirit of Batman #676, except this time with Damian Wayne's Robin front and center. Observe:
Of course, we speculated that this could just be a metaphor for the events of the books -- as in Damian stops being Robin or something -- but in a spoilerific reveal from DC Comics via the New York Post, it has been confirmed that Damian does indeed die in battle. Grant Morrison told the paper, "It’s all about the family and the family going to hell. The two adults in the story are both culpable. The kid’s the good guy."
So there you have it, I guess. Within Morrison's Batman run, which stems back to 2006, it makes sense for him to build this character up and get us to rally behind him, only to kill him off. It's good drama. It sucks (Damian's my favorite), but it'll have impact. Or at least, it would have if it wasn't announced in a newspaper...
What do you guys think?
