FlatOut Dev Teasing New Racing Title

Finnish studio Bugbear Entertainment, the developer behind the recent Ridge Racer Unbounded and cult racing favourites FlatOut and FlatOut 2, is teasing a new, untitled racing game promising to take Bugbear back to its roots.

"Bugbear is going to deliver the definitive demolition derby racing game," reads a statement on the studio's website.

"We’re doing it because nobody else seems capable of delivering the kind of game our fans have been asking from us every week. We feel that there hasn’t been a proper demolition derby game in years. It’s about time they got an answer."

Bugbear has dubbed the untitled project simply 'Next Car Game' for now, and it's in the works for PC and yet to be announced platforms. We've reached out to Bugbear to see if the team is keen to chat.

The teaser video smacks of pure, FlatOut-style destruction and seems to suggest a spiritual successor to the fan-favourite demolition racing series.

The FlatOut series, which used to be the property of Bugbear's then-publisher Empire Interactive, has continued on with a new developer since Empire went bankrupt in 2009. The results have been truly horrific.
