Journey Developer thatgamecompany Working With Kinect?

Journey and Flower developer thatgamecompany may be working with Xbox One's Kinect sensor on its next independent multiplayer game. Jenova Chen, president at thatgamecompany, told Telegraph, "A while back someone was asking me what I was looking for and I said 'I wanted to have an input device that captures the player’s facial expressions and gestures and fingers' I think the Kinect 2 is finally there."

Furthermore, the next game from thatgamecompany "is going to be something that will relate to a wide audience on a human level."

However, whatever the next game is, it isn't very far along. "It’s been almost a year now [since Journey] and we are still in a very pre, pre-production mode," Chen explained. "It’s always been the pattern of thatgamecompany that we spent 75 per cent of time doing R&D and a smaller portion of time on production. When we go for a particular goal we have to do a lot of trial and error. It can feel like you are reaching out in the fog trying to find something.”

Chen's goal is to create a moving experience that families can enjoy together. "Everything we do is slowly heading in that direction," he said. Bringing people together in a is a "a natural evolution" of thatgamecompany's ambition.

This project is still years away, of course, and if its development is anything like Journey, it could break some spirits.
