The Leap Motion hands-free computer interface has fully launched today, including an app storefront full of games and productivity software. Originally slated for release in May, the Leap Motion was subsequently delayed until July, with the company citing a need for more beta testing. Pre-orders of the hardware began shipping last week.
The Leap Motion is essentially a Kinect-like sensor which sits on your dekstop. Moving your hands over the sensor allows for manipulation of 3D space for a multitude of applications, including digital art and design programs. Earlier this year, Leap Motion announced partnerships with HP and ASUS.
"Leap Motion enhances the computing experience to allow people to do things in new and better ways, and we’re committed to breaking down the barriers between people and technology to make the future more easily accessible," said Leap Motion CEO Michael Buckwald.
Airspace currently has 75 free or paid apps available for the Leap Motion. The hardware sells for $80, and will be available at brick and mortar Best Buy stores in the U.S. starting July 28. Leap Motion is compatible with both Mac and PC.
