3DS Firmware Update Adds New StreetPass Games

3DS firmware update v.9.0.0-11 is now available in US, Europe, and Japan, allowing for myriad new features, including StreetPass and Mii Plaza upgrades, that vary by region.

We’ve listed the reported features by region below.

Europe and Japan

There’s an upgrade available for Mii Plaza that brings a new shop into town that sells four new StreetPass games, as listed by The Escapist below.

  • StreetPass Squad (Like Find Mii in space, battle Gold Bone Gang)
  • StreetPass Garden (Move into a house, grow flowers, and decorate a garden)
  • StreetPass Battle (Strategy game, build a StreetPass army and conquer the world)
  • StreetPass Mansion (Solve a paranormal mystery in a haunted house)

Each new game costs €5 (which is about $7 USD) or you can purchase the entire lot of four for €15. They even include little rewards, like new StreetPass hats.

New puzzles for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles are also included, according to NintendoLife.

The update also includes a new save data backup utility for titles that are downloaded through the 3DS eShop, though all titles may not be supported at this time.

United States

In the United States, the update to Mii Plaza is nowhere to be found, presumably coming at a later time.

It still has the save utility, but that’s about it with the exception of “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”

The list is certainly shorter for the United States, but the updates available to Europe and Japan continue Nintendo’s drive to support the 3DS through small downloads. It’s a good sign.
