TCA Nominations Include Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad

The TCA (Television Critics Association) have revealed their nominations for the 2013 TCA Awards. I’m a member of the TCA, which means I took part in the first round of nomination selecting, listing my top two choices in each category. That doesn’t mean the shows I put down and hoped for all made it, of course -- Hannibal, wish you were here! -- but plenty I hoped for did, such as The Americans and Orphan Black, not to mention Matthew Rhys and Tatiana Maslany’s outstanding performances in those series.

Yeah, I’m not sure why Downton Abbey and Rectify are in the miniseries category either. And, like any group, those of us voting have wildly different tastes… Sorry, Jay Leno, you’re not getting my vote for Career Achievement.

Some very IGN-friendly shows are among the nominees though, including The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Mad Men. Notable among the nominations is House of Cards, as Netflix makes their big push into original programming.

The 28th Annual TCA Awards will be presented on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
