We called it! In our recent report on Benedict Cumberbatch dropping out of director Guillermo del Toro's next film, Crimson Peak, we closed with the line, "Paging Tom Hiddleston …"
Well, the Thor and Avengers actor has answered our summons in the affirmative!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hiddleston is indeed replacing Cumberbatch in the haunted house movie, which is slated to commence filming this January.
Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam will star in Crimson Peak, which Legendary Pictures is producing.
Still no word on why Cumberbatch left the project, but he did recently line up the lead role in The Lost City of Z and has been rumored for Star Wars: Episode VII, which would be filming at the same time as Crimson Peak. Hmmmm.
Crimson Peak opens spring 2015.
