Resi 6 Sales Disappointing, Monster Hunter 4 Delayed

Capcom has delayed 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter 4 and revised its projected profits downwards as Resident Evil 6 sales are "certain to fall short of the plan".

There's no new date for Monster Hunter 4, which was originally due to hit Japanese shelves in March, but Capcom claims it's being delayed because "further quality enhancements are needed in order to meet... expectations". It's now due sometime in summer. It's awesome, though, based on what we played at least year's Tokyo Game Show, so it should hopefully be worth the wait.

The publisher has reduced its projected profits as a result of the delay and of weakening Resident Evil 6 sales. The game was originally slated to sell around seven million, but now looks like it will fall short of a revised 6 million target. The publisher reports that sales were "initially strong but subsequently weakened"; the game's mixed reviews contributed to its lower-than-expected performance at retail.

Capcom still expects to post a profit of 6.5 billion yen, which is $77 million, for the end of the financial year.
