See Doctor Who's New TARDIS

Want to see the first picture of the new interior of the TARDIS, soon to be seen in the 2012 Christmas special? Course you do. Behold!

The BBC has unveiled the new-look TARDIS interior for the show’s 50th anniversary year, which we’ll first see in action during The Snowmen, this year’s Christmas special. The TARDIS interior has changed a number of times over the years, most significantly when Who relaunched in 2005 with a grander organic look, but this new design harks back to the minimalist style favoured by the show before it was cancelled in 1989.

Doctor Who will also be sporting a brand new opening credits sequence and theme, the BBC has revealed. (Cue anticipatory wails of fanboy ire.) With a new TARDIS, new companion, new theme tune and new duds for The Doctor, the Christmas special looks like it’s going to give us our greatest indication yet as to what we can expect in the show’s anniversary year.

The 2012 Christmas special 'The Snowmen' will air at 5.15pm on Christmas day. American chums, you'll be able to watch it at 8pm the same day on BBC America.
