Samsung to Unveil 8-inch Galaxy Note Tablet Next Month

With Apple’s iPad mini and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD blowing up the small scale tablet market, Samsung is eager to show it isn’t to be outdone. According to Sammobile, Samsung has a new 8-inch tablet in the works, the GT-N5100, also known as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. Samsung’s more affordable answer to the iPad mini will be joining the already crowded ranks of Samsung’s other Note products including the Galaxy Note 10.1, the Galaxy Note II, and the original Galaxy Note.

As far as product specifications go, Samsung is hoping to plug in the admittedly narrow gap left between its smartphones and larger tablets. The 8x5 inch device comes equipped with a 1280×800 TFT display, 5 megapixel back camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 2 GB RAM, and a micro SD slot for additional memory. Consumers will be able to choose between 16 and 32 GB of internal memory as well as 3G + WiFi and WiFi only options. The Galaxy Note 8.0 will be armed with a 4600 Mah battery and the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Coming in at under a pound, this small lightweight tablet might be the ideal choice for people looking for a more convenient alternative to Samsung’s larger Galaxy Note 10.1.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is set to debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month, where we’ll learn more regarding the device’s price and market availability.
