This issue is a great jumping-on point for anybody interested in jumping into the world of Revival. If you like your horror slow, with tons of mystery, then you should be reading Revival. It's hard to tell where this series is going, but with stories like this, that's a good thing. Come for the murder, stay for the mystery. Revival is good stuff and you should be supporting it.
Tim Seeley is weaving a big tale here. The cast of characters in Revival keeps growing and the stakes keep getting bigger. It's the way that Seeley handles the characters that makes this story so great. It's twisted at times, but this story feels real. The characters are fleshed out and believable. Honestly, if it wasn't for the dead coming back to life and the weird ghost/alien creature, Revival could be a true story of murder in a small, rural town in America. Revival works because it's written so damn well.
Mike Norton's art ranges from serviceable to great in each issue. It never looks bad, but some pages really pop when compared to others. There's nothing particularly dynamic about the opening pages to this issue. However, when you get to scene with Em sewing her tattered sweatshirt, the book really becomes a thing of beauty. All in all, Revival is a solid package. If you are looking for something different to spice up your pull list, give Revival a shot. It's worth it.
