Sony has announced that people who purchase God of War: Ascension will be granted first access to a demo of Naughty Dog's highly-anticipated The Last of Us.
Anyone who purchases Kratos' latest adventure after it releases on March 12 in the States, March 13 in Europe or March 14 in Australia will be able to step into Joel and Ellie's world for the first time.
Upon booting up God of War: Ascension, players will be greeted by a listing for The Last of Us on the title's main menu. Selecting this will reveal how the free demo can be accessed as soon as it becomes available.
The demo won't be available as soon as God of War: Ascension hits shelves, and it isn't currently clear if it will later be made available to other PlayStation owners.
Now this is pretty exciting news. Up until now, all we've seen of the game is Naughty Dog employees leading presentations at various high profile events. No one's actually been hands-on with the game, which has led many to speculate, somewhat pessimistically, that the title will handle and feel almost exactly like the studio's last action-adventure franchise, Uncharted.
Thankfully it seems we won't have to wait much longer to find out for ourselves.
The Last of Us is scheduled to be released exclusively for PlayStation on May 7.
Luke Karmali is IGN's UK Editorial Assistant and cannot wait to get his hands on The Last of Us. You too can revel in mediocrity by following him on IGN and on Twitter.
