Tomb Raider Won't Get a Demo or Season Pass

The highly-anticipated Tomb Raider reboot won't be getting a demo ahead of release, nor will a season or online pass be made available for DLC content according to Crystal Dynamic's global brand director.

Taking to his Twitter, Karl Stewart revealed that the decision was made not to release a demo as the company didn't want "to spoil the story", adding that he believed it would be better for players to experience the game in one entire playthrough.

...We've weaved such an personal story we don't believe spoiling it by having you wait a week or so to play on, delivers on our promise.

That's not all, though. After being asked by a number of followers whether or not the game would offer a season or online pass for DLC, whereby gamers pay one bulk sum ahead of time for access to all the game's future content for a discounted price, he explained this wouldn't be the case.

Reading some of your comments/questions about @tombraider multiplayer. Just so were all on the same age, there's no Season or Online Pass

It's a pretty interesting admission, especially with this being the first game in the series to feature multiplayer. These days it's pretty standard fare for companies to offer a season or online pass so players can get all the latest map packs as soon as they drop, but it seems Crystal Dynamics isn't going to adhere to this convention.

We recently got a chance to go hands-on with the multiplayer, and came away with quite mixed feelings, especially over the rather lacklustre Team Deathmatch mode, but felt slightly more positive about what the Private Rescue games might offer.

Tomb Raider will release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on March 5.
