Eliza Dushku to Star in Roger Moore Produced Pilot The Saint

Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse) and Adam Rayner are set to co-star in the Roger Moore produced TV-Movie/backdoor pilot The Saint, Deadline reports. Brad Krevoy’s film and TV production company MPCA will produce with Simon West (Con Air, Tomb Raider) directing from a script by the project’s showrunner Jesse Alexander.

In 2008 there was talk of reviving The Saint with James Purefoy (Rome, Resident Evil) in the lead, but that project never got off the ground.

Based on the Leslie Charteris book series, the show will “follow the exploits of Simon Templar (Rayner), a brilliant criminal who uses his considerable illicit skills as a modern-day Robin Hood as he infuriates local law enforcement and woos Patricia Holm (Dushku), his on-again, off-again romance.”

Moore brought the character to life in a popular 1960’s British television series and will co-produce this latest iteration with his son Geoffrey Moore, Lulu Moore, and Louisa Macdonald. Production is set to begin this Friday in Los Angeles, Toronto, and London.

There have been 15 cinematic versions of The Saint, you may remember the most recent (less-than-successful) 1997 Val Kilmer vehicle.
