Official Pokédex App Available for iOS

The Pokémon Company International announced today that an official Pokédex application is now available for iOS. Seriously. Providing detailed information on more than 600 pocket monsters, this application is available on the iTunes store and compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini and iPhone Touch.

The gang's all here... on your iPhone?!

Pokédex for iOS, much like the recently released Pokédex 3D Pro for Nintendo 3DS, allows users to spin three-dimensional models of their favorite monsters a full 360-degrees, as well as access information like type, weight, special ability, how they evolve, where they can be found, what moves they learns, and so on. The iOS app goes for the initial price of $1.99, which only includes the Unova region's Pokédex. The remaining four Pokédex regions (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh) will be available to purchase for an additional $5.99 each. In other words, it will bank you around $26 to "catch 'em all" on your iPhone.

Say hello to iOshawott.

Please keep in mind that The Pokémon Company International is a subsidiary of Nintendo - the two companies are not one and the same. In other words, this development in no way contradicts Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's past comments about abstaining from releasing Nintendo-related content on mobile devices - nor does it reflect a change in this long-held standpoint. As a subsidiary, The Pokémon Company is, in many ways, separate from Nintendo - that's why it was able to do this, and why Pokémon-related iOS apps have already been released in Japan prior to this.

For all thing Pokémon, keep it here on IGN.
