Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Lands Scripter Jeff Nathanson

Disney has hired Catch Me if You Can writer Jeff Nathanson to script Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

Variety reports that the Pirates team -- or what's left of it now that the director of the first three films, Gore Verbinski, is gone -- of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Johnny Depp are also expected to be back.

"Plot details are unknown, and it's not clear whether thesps from past installments, like Geoffrey Rush or Keira Knightley, would return to reprise their roles," says the trade.

The fourth film, On Stranger Tides, would seem to make that last point mostly irrelevant anyway. It was a Knightley- and Orlando Bloom-free affair and it still managed to make over a billion dollars worldwide.
