With Ben Affleck officially cast as Batman and a February production start in place, location scouting has now officially begun for Warner Bros.' Man of Steel sequel -- and it seems we may have our first bit of info on the new Gotham City.
According to Latino-Review, sources say the production team has scouted Detroit, Michigan as a possible stand-in for Batman's Gotham. This would make sense, considering the Motor City's recent production boom and generous tax incentives. (Michael Bay's Transformers 4 is filming there now, and Disney's Need for Speed shot there earlier this summer.) Plus, Man of Steel 2 would be a huge get for the state of Michigan.
In addition to Detroit, the production team also reportedly scouted (drum roll, please...) Morocco. As LR notes, Warners has a good working relationship with the country and has shot three other major projects there already (Body of Lies, Sex & the City 2, and Inception). As for how Morocco would tie in to the Batman vs. Superman movie, well, speculations abound.
