The Winner of IGN's People's Choice Award of Gamescom 2013 is...

DayZ, the standalone version of the hugely popular ArmA II zombie mod, has won the IGN People's Choice Award of Gamescom 2013 taking over 15% of the total votes.

The PC title from Dean 'Rocket' Hall beat out 49 competitors in a list of games assembled by IGN editors from across the globe out of titles that were on display on the show floor in Cologne.

This is the third year of the People's Choice Award at Gamescom and it's the third consecutive year that a PC-only title has won the coveted accolade.

It was the most closely contested PCA poll yet, with a number of other titles doing well enough to also be commended.

A standalone version was announced in August last year and is currently in closed testing, with an alpha release expected soon.
