It's been almost a year since aliens were due to invade the X-Files universe, but creator Chris Carter still wants to make a third X-Files movie...and he wants Simon Pegg to guest star in it.
Talking to Empire, Carter noted the decision was in the hands of 20th Century Fox, but enthused that "all of us are interested in putting the band back together."
"The colonization date (which was December 22 2012 in the series) has passed, and that is something we wouldn't ignore," he explained. "For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology."
As for Pegg's involvement, Carter mentioned that Gillian Anderson - who of course played Agent Scully in his famous sci-fi series - had worked with Pegg (in 2008's How To Lose Friends And Alienate People), and mentioned he was a fan.
"We actually thought about putting him in the second movie, but there was no part for him. I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way."
